South Florida Travel Guide
Hi babes! So before all this quarantine stuff I traveled to Florida with my girlfriend Bailey and had the BEST time. It was so nice to get away and have some girl time – especially with cold weather back home! I had several questions about our trip so I wanted to do a blog post about it for future reference. Definitely save this for later for when we can finally book trips again!
We first flew into Key West and stayed at…
Ocean Key Resort in Key West
The location was perfect! It was on the main strip (Duvall Street) and right where all the cruise ships dock. Lots of restaurants, bars and shops all within walking distance. It is also connected to the famous Sunset Pier – which is a popular spot for live music and good food! I had a Bloody Mary and the chicken tacos… highly recommend!
Amenities
Ocean Key Resort has a great pool area with cabanas as an option. They are first come, first serve so no additional charge! They also have a poolside restaurant, Liquid Lounge, to order food and drinks from – we spent the whole day here one day and loved it! We ordered alllll the Pina coladas.
We ate dinner at Hot Tin Roof one night (the hotel restaurant) and it was so good. Loved the vibe of it! We split the surf and turf – it was plenty of food and so yummy. We also split the lobster mac and cheese… must have! We ate breakfast here both days too – one day we chose the in room option and ate on our balcony!
They also have a spa which I definitely recommend. I ended up getting a facial and it was so nice and relaxing! Bailey chose the prenatal massage and loved it.
Rooms
The rooms were so fun and were decorated with bright tropical colors. We had a double bedroom with two bathrooms. Definitely spacious enough for a family! We also had a large balcony over looking Duvall Street.
Experience
From the time we checked in to the time we checked out the service was great! They didn’t hesitate to help us and were willing to answer any questions we had. P.S. – Ocean Key Resort is rated #1 hotel in Key West!
Next we made our way up to Ft. Lauderdale for our next stay…
Pelican Grand Beach Resort in. Ft. Lauderdale
Amenities
The Pelican Grand is an ocean front resort with all the amenities. I loved being able to walk straight on to the beach each morning – which they do offer umbrella, chair and towel service for at no extra charge! They also have a lazy river, zero entry pool, and lots of dining options. They also had fun little fire pit areas overlooking the beach/ocean to relax by at night! The hotel offers a spa and gym as well.
Rooms
The rooms at Pelican Grand were my favorite! They had such a fun, cool beach vibe. They were also spacious – we had a double queen room with a separate living area plus a balcony over looking the ocean!
Dining
The Pelican Grand has plenty of food options so you never have to leave the hotel! We ate breakfast at OCEAN2000 on the patio next to the beach and it was so good. Lots of breakfast options! The dinner menu looked amazing here as well – so I would definitely recommend trying it!
The O2K Lounge was our go-to while there. Its perfect for grabbing drinks and lunch during the day – they offer poolside service or you can grab and go for the beach! We also grabbed some apps/light dinner here one night as well!
There is also a cute little ice cream shop in the lobby – which also had iced coffee that we would grab each morning to start our day!
Experience
We had a great time at the Pelican Grand and loved the relaxing vibe of it. More low-key and perfect for a little getaway. I kept saying I couldn’t wait to come back before I even left!
